HSCL was established in 1962 by Douglas Farnworth in Bolton. Over the years we have evolved to encapsulate many names and brands but it began as WML Ltd (Washing Machines Lancashire Limited).
Today, WML Industrial Holdings Group consists of three companies with HSCL being the largest trading company of the group.
In addition to HSCL, the group consists of two other companies:
In 1980, we moved premises to Boundary Industrial Estate as more space was required to cover the rapid growth of the company. The units at Boundary Industrial Estate helped to establish HSCL as a leading 'Pattern' spare parts supplier with many unique products and its own on-site packaging and warehouse facilities. During this period the company saw rapid growth and massive change.
In 2000 Douglas' son John Farnworth took over as Managing Director of HSCL. This period witnessed great change in the market, which saw the growth of the trade website, www.homespare.com and a significant development of the Unifit household consumables range in consumer friendly packaging. The offer was extended by the addition of spare parts, consumables and accessories for catering equipment - a range of products that complimented the HSCL range.
As HSCL continued to develop and grow, the facilities at Boundary Industrial Estate soon became too small and in 2007 HSCL relocated to a modern 31,000 sq ft facility in Bolton.
Shorty after that, in January 2008, John Farnworth moved to group level and Jeroen van Drunen was appointed as Managing Director. Further development was made by expanding the range of original spare parts, the launch of the new websites (Homespare.com for the domestic trade, catering-parts.co.uk for catering spare parts and Unifit.co.uk for consumer) and further focus on marketing and sales.
In 2011, we decided to rebrand the company to HSCL.
